UQ Tennis Restart

The good news is that the UQ Tennis Centre has re-opened and Club programs will be restarting soon.
 
The Flood this time was just 30 cm deep compared to the 1.7 m deep 2011 Flood and the monster 3 m deep 1974 Flood. Therefore, there was no damage to the courts apart from a thin layer of mud that has been hosed off. There is still some mud residue on the courts and work is in progress to deep clean them,
 
Power has been restored to the clubhouse, what can be salvaged from the storeroom has been moved upstairs inside the clubhouse but the phones & internet are not working.
 
SOCIAL TENNIS
Sunday Afternoon Social Tennis will restart this Sunday, 13 March. Thursday Night Social Tennis will restart on 17 March.
 
PRACTICE
Wednesday Night Practice will restart on 16 March.
 
TEAM FIXTURES
First Semester Fixtures were supposed to start last week but the Flood occurred before all the Grading Sessions could be held. Therefore, extra Grading Sessions will be held on 14 March (7 to 9 pm) & 16 March (8 to 9 pm). The new entry deadline is 16 March and the Fixtures will start on 22 & 24 March or 29 & 31 March (still to be decided).
 
CLUB TOURNAMENTS
The Fastennis Singles Tournament, scheduled for Sunday morning, 13 March, has been cancelled. The next tournament will be the Autumn Series Doubles Tournament on Saturday night, 26 March.
