Sunday Singles Fixtures 3 & 10 November

Following the success of the inaugural daytime Singles Fixtures played in June, the UQ Tennis Club will bebe running a second season of Sunday Singles Fixtures in November.

The Sunday Singles Fixtures #2 will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on two consecutive Sundays (3 & 10 November) using two timeslots (9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.).

Entrants are commiting to being available for both Sundays.

The Singles Fixtures will be run as an any-gender competition and will use a mixture of Teams Fixtures and Tournament rules.

Players will be divided into round-robin groups of six by standard and each player will play every other player in their group once.  Points will be awarded as follows (3 points for a win and 1 point for a loss with 0.1 bonus points for every game won).  The round-robin will be followed by play-offs between the players who finish 1st & 2nd on points, the players who finish 3rd & 4th on points and the players who finish 5th & 6th on points.  This will give all players 5 matches in the round-robin plus 1 play-off match on the final night (i.e. 6 matches each).

Although players will be able to nominate a preference for A1, A2, B or C Grade when they enter, the final group names and the division of players into those groups will be decided by the UQ Tennis Club's organizing committee with the aim of having the best six players in the first group, the next best six in the second group, and so on until all players have been allocated to a group.

Players whoi have not participated in any UQ Tennsi Club programs must supply information about their Tennis standard and must attend a grading session if required.  Grading will be done during Sunday Afternoon Social Tennis or Thursday Night Social Tennis.

All matches will be one Set (i.e. first to 6 games with a tie-break if the score reaches 5-games all).  45 minutes will be allocated for each match.  Players will play three matches per day in one timeslot (9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. OR 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. & 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.). Groups will switch timeslots for the second Sunday.

All matches will be played, so the season may be extended to 17 November or beyond to play any washed-out matches.

The season fee is $45 for Ordinary, Associate & Junior members of the UQ Tennis Club or $55 for all others.

Entries close on Thursday, 24 October.

The entry form can be picked up from under the UQ Tennis Clubhouse or downloaded as a PDF file here.

Entries can also be lodged on-line using Tennis Australia's tournament on-line entry system.

The direct link to enter on-line can be found here

N.B. When players go to enter on-line, they are asked to create a Tournament account if they don't already have one.  To create a Tournament account, players need their 11-digit Tennis Australia My Tennis Player ID Number.  Unfortunately, although the TA tournament on-line entry system still requires the 11-digit Player ID Number, TA has stopped issuing Player ID Numbers automatically for new players registered through My Tennis (as it is switching to using player e-mail addresses for identification purposes).  This means that players who do not have a Player ID number, or don't remember their number, need to contact Tennis Australia via or 1800 752 983 to obtain their number or have a number created for them (information required - name, postal address, unique e-mail address, birthdate and a phone number).
