December Monday Night-time Singles Fixtures

The December Monday Night Singles Fixtures will run from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on two consecutive Monday nights (4 & 11 December).

Entrants are commiting to being available for both nights.

The Singles Fixtures will be run as an any-gender competition and will use a mixture of Teams Fixtures and Tournament rules.

All players who have not participated in UQ Tennis Club Programs must be graded if they do not have a verified UTR.  Grading will be done at Thursday Night or Sunday Afternoon Social Tennis.

Players will be divided into round-robin groups of six by standard and each player will play every other player in their group once.  Points will be awarded as follows (3 points for a win and 1 point for a loss with 0.1 bonus points for every game won).  The round-robin will be followed by play-offs between the players who finish 1st & 2nd on points, the players who finish 3rd & 4th on points and the players who finish 5th & 6th on points.  This will give all players 5 matches in the round-robin plus 1 play-off match on the final night (i.e. 6 matches each).

Although players will be able to nominate a preference for A1, A2, B or C Grade when they enter, the final group names and the division of players into those groups will be decided by the UQ Tennis Club's organizing committee with the aim of having the best six players in the highest group, the next best six in the second group, and so on until all players have been allocated to a group. Division of players into groups will be determined using players’ verified UTRs at the close of entries.

All matches will be one set (i.e. first to 6 games with a tie-break if the score reaches 5-games all).  45 minutes will be allocated for each match with a 5-minute warm-up before the first match each night.  Players will play three matches per night in the 7 to 7:50 p.m., 7:50 to 8:35 p.m. and 8:35 to 9:20 p.m. timeslots.

All matches will be played, so the season may be extended to 3 July or beyond to play any washed-out matches.

There is a limit to the number of players that can be accommodated with the competition format and this competition is restricted to 30 players.  Therefore, entries can be closed early.  If the competition over-subscribes, the order of receipt of entries will be used to determine the final acceptances.  N.B. Entries for the 2022 December competition had to be closed 2 days early because the maximum 30 entries had been received.

The season fee is $55 for Ordinary, Associate & Junior members of the UQ Tennis Club or $65 for all others.

Entries close on Wednesday 29 November.

The entry form can be picked up from under the UQ Tennis Clubhouse or downloaded as a PDF file here.

Entries can also be lodged on-line using Tennis Australia's tournament on-line entry system.

The direct link to enter on-line can be found here.  This is the preferred method of entry.  ON-LINE ENTRY NOT YET SET UP.

N.B. When players go to enter on-line, they are asked to log in using their Competitive Player Profile or to create a Competitive Player Profile with a Tennis ID (11-digit number starting ‘66’) and link it to Universal Tennis Ratings.  Players can check if they have already a Tennis ID & Competitive Player Profile or they can create a Competitive Player Profile & Tennis ID & UTR link by going to https://www.tennis.com.au/competitiveplay/create-your-cpp.
