2020 First Semester Team Fixtures

The best option for people wanting to play regular competitive Tennis is to sign on for Team Fixtures (graded weekly teams competition).

In First Semester, the UQ Tennis Club will be running three internal Fixtures (all matches at UQ) and entering teams in one Brisbane Night Tennis Association (BNTA) Fixture (matches at UQ and elsewhere in Brisbane).  Check the 2020 Membership & First Semester Fixtures application form for competition details (dates, formats & fees).

The competitions are:
UQTC Monday Night (7 p.m. 9 p.m.)  -  starts 16 March (finishes 1 June)  -  11 matches (including play-offs for all teams)
UQTC Tuesday Night (7 p.m. to 9 p.m.)  -  starts 17 March (finishes 2 June)  -  11 matches (including play-offs for all teams)
BNTA Wednesday Night (7 p.m. to 9 p.m.)  -  starts 18 March (finishes 1 July)  -  15 matches + Semi-Finals + Final
UQTC Thursday Night (8 p.m. to 10 p.m.)  -  starts 2 April (finishes 21 May)  -  7 matches (including play-offs for all teams)

Season Fixture Fees (covers all court hire, balls & registration costs for season):
UQTC Monday Night  -  $75
UQTC Tuesday Night  -  $75
BNTA Wednesday Night  -  $110
UQTC Thursday Night  -  $60

To play Team Fixtures for UQ, players must join the UQ Tennis Club:
Full Year Membership (to 31 December 2020)  -  $99
Half Year Membership (to 30 June 2020)  -  $79

All new Fixture members must attend a Grading Session.  There is no registration required for grading.  Just turn up at and check in upstairs in the Clubhouse.

Grading Session times are:
Monday. 24 February from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (all Fixtures)
Wednesday, 26 February from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (all Fixtures)
Monday, 2 March from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (all Fixtures)
Wednesday, 4 March from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (all Fixtures)
Thursday Night Social Tennis - 5, 12 & 19 March from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Thursday Fixtures only)
Sunday Afternoon Social Tennis - 8 & 15 March from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. (Thursday Fixtures only)

Entries for all 2020(1) Season Team Fixtures close on:
Wednesday, 4 March  -  Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday Fixtures
Thursday, 19 March  -  Thursday Fixtures

N.B. Quotas apply for all Fixtures. Therefore, some competitions may fill up before the designated closing date for entries.

Special Note:  During 2020, work will begin on the construction of UQ’s new $65M Health & Recreation Centre which will open in 2022.  To make way for this development, UQ will be demolishing the Tennis Pavilion and the five main courts at the Tennis Centre which will have a huge impact on Tennis at UQ.  At this stage, demolition of the courts is not expected to happen until after the completion of First Semester Fixtures.  However, if demolition of the courts begins earlier than expected, there may have to be format changes in some competitions mid season to accommodate teams on significantly less courts—such as reducing all  matches to 3 first-to-six-games sets (2 singles & 1 doubles) and using two timeslots (7 to 8:30 p.m. and 8:30 to 10 p.m.).
