Club Championships - First Weekend Results

Despite the dire weather forecast, the rain came late each day and the first weekend (3-4 May) of the UQ Tennis Club's Annual Championships was completed successfully. 

There were some epic battles, but the match of the first weekend was the B Grade Ladies’ Singles Semi-Final between Grace Vang and Susan Ko where Susan prevailed 6-7 7-6 [10-5]. The come-back of the weekend was in a B Grade Men’s Doubles Semi-Final where James Potts & Kishan Vyas defeated Peter Lawrence & Andrew Smith 0-6 6-4 [10-8].

There were a number of other nail-biters decided by a match-deciding tie-break:
B Grade Men’s Doubles Semi-Final - Jari Nguyen & Dien Tran d William Chen & Krishna Dermawan 7-6 4-6 [12-10]
B Grade Men’s Singles Quarter-Final – Liam Tincknell d Finnian Beck-Veldman 5-7 6-0 [10-6]
B Grade Men’s Singles Quarter-Final – Luca Maioli d Krishna Dermawan 6-2 3-6 [10-5]

The major events were won by Ethan Gunn (Open Men’s Singles) and Luke Angus & Ethan Gunn (Open Men’s Doubles).

The results in the Finals for all the events completed on the first weekend were:
